The use range and usage of wheel hub bearing units are increasing day by day, and it has now developed to the third generation: the first generation is composed of double row angular contact bearings. The second generation has a flange for fixing the bearing on the outer raceway, and the bearing can be simply sleeved on the axle and fixed with a nut, which makes the maintenance of the car easier. The third-generation wheel hub bearing unit uses the bearing unit to cooperate with the anti-lock brake system. The hub unit is designed with an inner flange and an outer flange. The inner flange is bolted to the drive shaft, and the outer flange installs the entire bearing together.

In authorized repair shops, there are corresponding special tools for installing wheel bearings for different models. However, for comprehensive maintenance companies, such conditions are often not available. In this case, the used bearings that have just been removed can be used, because the dimensions of the old bearings and the new bearings are exactly the same.

(1) Install the circlip on the outside of the steering knuckle to position the new wheel hub bearing.

(2) Use the outer ring of the old hub bearing as a spacer, and press the new hub bearing into the steering knuckle. After the bearing is fully pressed in, install the circlip on the other side in place.

(3) Use the old wheel hub bearing inner ring as a spacer to press the wheel hub into the steering knuckle.

(4) After the installation is complete, turn the hub to check whether it is installed in place and check the oil seal.

Install and reset the steering knuckle and other related parts

(1) Install the 3 bolts connecting the lower swing arm and the steering knuckle with a tightening torque of 35 N·m.

(2) Install the two bolts connecting the steering knuckle and the shock absorber with a tightening torque of 95 N·m.

(3) Install the nut at the lower end of the steering rod with a tightening torque of 35 N·m.

(4) Install the two bolts connecting the brake caliper and the steering knuckle with a tightening torque of 25 N·m.

(5) Install the self-locking nut at the end of the half shaft with a tightening torque of 265 N·m.

(6) Install the tire, and the tightening torque of the tire bolt is 110 N·m.

So far, the operation of installing the front wheel hub bearing is completed.
